I've always hated bike-art shows.

Not only is the whole concept contrived, but the work is generally pretty crappy. For no reason in particular, other than those I suppose, I've keep a fair distance from ever including the topic of bikes in any of my work. Last month Brian Vernor asked me if I wanted to participate in a group show he was organizing at San Francisco's Rapha store.

"Great" I thought. Bike art and Rapha. It was like two components in a perfect storm of douche. However, once I found out who else was to be included in the show, my guard dropped long enough to finish the piece. I was happy with the final results, as it was a slight departure from what I usually do, and the reception was a smash.

Maybe bike-art isn't such a dreadful concept after all.
